The Ottoline is Merchant & Mills’ boxy workwear jacket — patch pockets, cuff and side-seam splits, an inside pocket, and the kind of topstitching that looks like it came off a factory floor.
The vents are a lovely detail and a little tricky, so the instructions include a simplified version that skips the side-seam and sleeve vents if you’d rather. Merchant & Mills suggest a heavy-duty thread rather than a topstitch thread for the seams — it looks more authentic and behaves better — with a matching sew-all thread in the bobbin.
